About Jim
Jim Peters has dedicated nearly 37 years to volunteering in Cowlitz County. He currently serves as the President of Cowlitz County Search and Rescue. Jim is also an active member of the Auxiliary Communication Service (ACS) for the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Lower Columbia Amateur Radio Association (LCARA). He holds a “Lifetime Member” status with the Mt. St. Helens Hiking Club. Jim’s outstanding service has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Washington State Volunteer of the Year award and the Presidential Lifetime Service Award in 2015. He has also been featured on the TV series “Grant’s Getaways.” Jim’s presentation covers the origins of Search and Rescue in Cowlitz County, the training provided to members, the various types of searches conducted, and the team’s fundraising efforts.
