About Lydia
American Paper Converting Inc. (APC Inc.) is a manufacturer of Towel and Tissue products, including the Eco Green 100% recycled brand. APC has manufacturing facilities in Woodland, Washington and Richmond, Virginia. APC was founded in 1997 by Lydia Work. She is the President and founder of American Paper Converting Inc (APC). She was born in Nicaragua and came to the United States as an exchange student to learn English. Her first dream was to obtain an education, which she did, a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington. Lydia has worked for several major integrated paper mills, starting her career with Weyerhaeuser, Longview. She gained experience in towel, tissue, newsprint, and linerboard. In 1997, Lydia embarked on an entrepreneurial venture as a flexible and innovative manufacturer of towel and tissue products. She founded American Paper Converting in Woodland, WA, and later expanded to Richmond. VA. American Paper strives to be the leader in sustainability in the tissue industry providing products with a minimum of 60% post-consumer waste, therefore, reducing wood consumption and waste in the landfills. American Paper has grown from two employees to more than 150. APC was given the Silver Star Award by the Small Business Development center in the state of Washington. APC has been awarded the Minority Manufacturer of the Year by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Minority Business Development Agency of San Francisco, CA for contributions to commerce and service to the community. APC was recognized and given an award by the Seattle Mariners for their contribution to sustainable products. She has served several Board of Directors in the industry.
